These beauties stopped me in my tracks at the Denver Gem Show.
These are actually slices of petrified wood!
What is petrified wood?
Petrified wood is a fossil It forms when plant material is buried by sediment and protected from decay due to oxygen and organisms. Then, groundwater rich in dissolved solids flows through the sediment, replacing the original plant material with silica, calcite, pyrite or another inorganic material such as opal. The result is a fossil of the original woody material that often exhibits preserved details of the bark, wood, and cellular structures. (geology.com)
What properties does it have?
Since this took thousands of years to create, petrified wood is useful for bringing patience and the deep knowledge of divine timing.
It can bring about slow transformation and the unfolding of layers of knowledge of self.
It can symbolize stability and ease of flow.
It is also very grounding and connected to the root chakra.
